A bit of anatomy.

The Nose, the mouth and anti snoring

To better understand why we snore, we have to know more about the anatomy of the nose and of the mouth.

Let us start by saying that the objective of our breathing is to bring oxygen via the lungs into the bloodstream and to get carbon monoxide out of our system. The air is supposed to enter through the nose not through the mouth. The last only to be used in urgent cases when the nose is blocked. All this is also true for the situation during our sleep.

After having passed the entrance of the nose, the air flows trough the nostrils, separated by the septum. Guided by the reliefs in the walls (the turbinates), the air flows either smoothly or turbulantly. At a certain point the speed of air is extremely high. That is in the nasal valve, the most narrow point in the nose. Then the air is guided along the three tubinates to the area above the back of the troat, the parynx.

When the entrance of the nose is blocked by weakened muscles of the nose, a phenomena that often occurs above 20 years of age, and when the lungs continue to inhale, a negative air pressure occurs in the airwais of nose and throat and it get narrower. To get more air one often turns onto his back during sleep. Sleeping on the back is sleeping in te wrong position as the tongue, the soft palate and the uvula fall back into the back of the throat, blocking the airpassage even further. The air accelerates and makes the soft tissue vibrate, making a sound called "snoring".

Snoring and even apnea can be avoided by keeping the nose entrance wide open. A very effective anti snoring anti apnea product, developed for this purpose is the "NoSnoringMoreAire"tube, recommended by a wide group of ENT specialists. Its function is similar to the well known PPC treatments in "Sleeping clinics", but the anti snoring"NoSnoringMoreAir" tube is available at a fraction of the cost and is much easier to get used to.
