Three critical area’s that block the air passage and produce snoring.
1 The Nose entrance
The nose entrance is the first critical area that can block air intake and which often is the start of a complete process in which also the next 2 critical points beneath play a role in the process of snoring.
The sad fact is that the muscles that keep the entrance of the nose open often weaken with age. The muscle tone is sometimes further reduced by sleeping pills or alcohol. A blocked nose entrance produces a negative air pressure in the airways to the lungs while they continue to function. As a consequence of this, all soft tissue in the nose and throat retract and the airways get narrower. The air accelerates and starts to get more turbulent which makes the soft tissue at the back of the throat vibrate, which makes a sound called snoring.
2 The soft palate/ uvula.
Next- The soft palate/ uvula can further cause problems and snoring. As we have seen, a blocked nose entrance narrows all airways during sleep and people start to lack air. This makes them turn on their back to get more air when breathing through their mouth. But in that position the uvula falls back and narrows the air passage even further. The air accelerates further making the soft palate / uvula vibrate, making the sound called snoring.
3 The back of the tongue.
Next- When people have turned on their back to get more air by breathing through their mouth the tongue falls backwards also narrowing the air passage. This narrowing also causes acceleration of airspeed and air turbulence which causes vibrating tissue with snoring as a result.
These are the 3 most common critical points, but there are others such as inflated tonsils, an extra thick tongue and other obstructions in the nose which have to be diagnosed by an ENT specialist.
It is only recently understood that the above three critical points result in an interrelated process that starts with and obstructed nose entrance and that an obstructed nose entrance is in most cases the most common cause of snoring. Therefore, before trying any other anti snore divice, it is worthwhile to start all treatments with finding a system that keeps the entrance of the nose open. The good system is the PPC system, which brings air into the airways by a machine. But it is cumbersome to use, expensive and only 50% of all users can stand it. Better start with a very simple and effective modern anti snore product that also brings more air into the airways, simply by keeping the nose entrance open, called “No Snoring More Air”.
